Sara Slocum

Sara Slocum, 85, of Valdosta, died at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida on Monday, May 26, 2008. Born in Lowndes County on December 4, 1922, she was the daughter of the late J. O. V. and Lou Dees Lineberger. Mrs. Slocum and her husband, Gene owned and operated Gene's Galleries for many years. She was a member of the Central Avenue Church of Christ where she was an excellent Sunday School Teacher.

Preceded in death by her husband, Gene Slocum, she is survived by a sister, Barnie Lou Gornto of Waycross and a large extended family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. Bryan Jarvis, Mr. Joe Gray, Mr. J.C. McMullen and Mr. Jim Nichols are to officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
