Samuel Ashley Jones, Jr., 56, of Hahira, died on Monday, June 18, 2018 following a lengthy illness. He was born in Valdosta on December 8, 1961 and has been a lifelong resident of this area. Ashley was a self-employed dry wall contractor, a volunteer firefighter for North Lowndes County, and had recently worked with Valdosta RV. Ashley’s life was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who lived and breathed family. He was always ready to help a friend or stranger in need and always put the needs of others before his own. Ashley was an avid outdoorsman who loved the simple things in life from sunsets to sunrises, a soft gentle breeze, the laughter of a child, extending kindness to his fellow man, and finding joy and humor in all aspects of life.
Ashley is survived by his wife of 36 years, Donna Jones of Hahira; his daughter and son-in-law, Ashlin and Joseph Copeland of Valdosta; his son and daughter-in-law, Logan and Lindsay Jones of Hahira; his grandchildren, Jace, Ryder, Harper and Hannah; his mother, Sylvia Jones of Valdosta, and his sister, Carol Gossard also of Valdosta, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Lynn and Ed Wooldridge, and his best friend Donnie Grow. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Ashley (Sammy) Jones, Sr.; his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Margaret Jones, and his maternal grandparents, J.B. and Elizabeth Rigdon.
