Roy Brady

July 19, 1924 — February 15, 2014

Roy Brady, 89, of Valdosta died on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Lakehaven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. He was born on July 19, 1924 in Lakeland, Georgia to the late Charlie Gordon and Flora Kirkland Brady. In his youth, he worked as a projectionist at various theaters in Valdosta such as The Skyway, The Dosta, and The Ritz, just to name a few. Later, he became the owner and operator of Brady's Radiator Shop for many years until his retirement. In retirement, he continued to stay active and loved working with various drug stores in Valdosta as a Pharmaceutical Courier. Mr. Brady was a member of Anitoch Church in Echols County.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Mattie and Everett Burnsed of Lakeland, Georgia; a daughter, Faye Lee of Albany, Georgia; a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Darlene Fountain of Houston, Texas; grandchildren and their spouses, Stephanie Burnsed Rogers, Annette Burnsed, Don, Jr. and Marsha Coffey of Albany, Dale and Christina Coffey of Athens, Alabama, David and Alicia Jackson of Valdosta, Thomas and Anna Fountain of Dupont, Washington, Carrie and Eric Bland of Humble, Texas and Lonnie Dean of Baytown, Texas; numerous great-grand children and great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lindsey and Howard Handsford of Valdosta, Pat and Ray Wallis of Valdosta, and Reba Simpson of Fargo, Georgia; his very good friend Bucky Anderson of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Virginia Brady.

Services for Roy Brady will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Corbett officiating. The burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday evening at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
