Roger Michael Christie

Roger Michael Christie, 33, of Lake Park died Thursday, October 8, 2009 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on September 7, 1976 in Valdosta and employed in the logging industry. He was a member of the Naylor Baptist Church and loved spending time with his children. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bogging and coon hunting with his Papa.

Survivors include his wife, Melissa Christie, two children, Skylar Christie and Kaiden Christie all of Lake Park, his parents, Teresa and Jaime Aviles of Naylor, Roger and Lynn Christie of Hahira, his sisters and brothers in law, Denise and Aaron Cooper of Valdosta, Amanda and Danny Sandlin of Lake Park, his brother and sister in law Judd and Elaine Christie of Savannah, his grandmother, Marlene Basson of Naylor, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Steve Basson, J. C. Christie, Lula Mae Christie and a special great aunt who was a like a grandmother, Oma Fletcher.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, October 11, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Ted Sauls officiating. Burial will follow in the Swilley Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to help the family defray expenses.
