Robert G. (Bob) Roberts

Robert G. (Bob) Roberts, 61, of Naylor, died on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Valdosta on September 12, 1948, he was the son of the late Joe L. and Eleanor Roberts. Mr. Roberts served with the United States Air Force in Vietnam. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 35 years of loyal service and was a member of the Brotherhood of the Railroad Carman Union. Mr. Roberts was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and served as Chairman of the Good Hope Cemetery Committee.

Survivors are his wife, Patricia Hughes Roberts of Naylor; sons, John Gary Roberts of Valdosta, Brian Roberts of Naylor; three grandchildren, Samantha Lynn Roberts of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Madeline Kathleen Roberts of Navarre Beach, Florida, Kyle Gary Roberts of Adel; sister, Barbara Roberts Mercer of Valdosta; brother and sister in law, Bruce A. and Elaine Roberts of Lake Park; his mother in law, Annie M. Hughes of Naylor; sister in law and brother in law, Janet and Larry Kinsey of Lake Park, brother in law, Richard Pittman of Valdosta; special nieces and nephews, Billy and Ginger Jackson, Hunter Jackson, Tennille and Mitch Starling, Ethan Starling, Renee Pittman, Matt and Holle Roberts, Keith and Kelly Mercer, Keri and Graham Zipperer, Landen and Layton Zipperer, Tammy and Kevin Hollis, Coleman and Carson Hollis, Timmy and Krystal Hiers, Emily and Jarred and Lindsey Hiers. Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his father in law, Vernon Hughes and brother in law, Richard Hughes.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 19, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Good Hope Baptist Church in Naylor. Reverend A.M. Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery. Mr. Roberts will lie in state at the church on Friday from 1 p.m. until service time.
