Randall Adams

Randall Adams, 88, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Hartwell, Georgia on December 13, 1929, he was the son of the late Collier and Edna McGee Adams.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, Mr. Adams served his country during the Korean Conflict from 1951 – 1955. He was a fighter pilot with the 41st Fighter Interceptor Squadron with the 339th Fighter Wing based in Japan. In 1952 Randall and Sara Welbron were married.
Randall began his banking career with C & S Bank in Atlanta before coming to Valdosta to join the trust department at C & S Bank Valdosta. During his 35 years of banking he was the recipient of the Mills B. Lane Trophy Award, two years in a row, which signified C & S’s Best Run System Bank within the state of Georgia.
A Past President of the Valdosta Rotary Club, Randall was a strong advocate for The United Way. An avid supporter and Past President of the Valdosta Boys Club, he was the second Georgian to win the National Boys Club Medallion. Mr. Adams was a founding member and early chairman of the VSU Foundation and a founding member of the Valwood School. He was a faithful, longtime member of First Baptist Church. During his later years he loved spending time at the family farm.
Survivors are his wife, Sara B. Adams of Valdosta; sons, David W. and Peggy Adams of Valdosta, Craig A. and Wight Adams of Raleigh, North Carolina, Keith B. Adams of Valdosta; grandchildren, Bryan S. and Amber Adams, Stephen W. Adams, Parker A. Adams of Valdosta, Rachel Adams, Jason R. Adams of Raleigh, North Carolina, Sarah and Thomas Williams of Hahira; great grandchildren, Cooper Williams, Clark Williams, Madison Adams, Savannah Adams; sister, Yvonne Nelson of Marietta, brother, Watesell Adams of Rockdale County. Randall was preceded in death by a sister, Darrine Perry.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Dennis Massie will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 – 7 p.m. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to First Baptist Church.
