Prentice Daniel (Danny) Adams, Jr., 79, of Valdosta, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Langdale Hospice House after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born January 27, 1936, in Leesburg, Florida, a son of the late Prentice Daniel (P.D.) and Dorothy A. Decker Adams. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church, a member of the Wesleyan Sunday School Class, which he enjoyed very much, a volunteer handyman, and for many years he was a Greeter for early church on first Sundays. Danny had been an owner and operator of Badcock Furniture Stores for forty-two years and is recognized as opening the first Badcock Furniture Store in the state of Georgia (Valdosta).

He was a member of the Happy Travelers Club and enjoyed his adventures across the United States and abroad. Growing up in St. Augustine, Florida, he had a love of the beach and always enjoyed surf fishing, a hobby he kept throughout his later years.
He also enjoyed genealogy, working in his yards, raising award winning African violets and day lilies. He was frequently sought out by neighborhood friends of all ages when something was in need of repair. Danny was a quiet servant and greatly loved by his wife, children and grandchildren.

Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, JoAnn Procopio-Adams of Valdosta; one son, Prentice Daniel Adams III (Carol) of Roswell; two daughters, Debbie Adams Sutton (Will) of Valdosta, and Diane Adams Carter (Winston) of Lake Park; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Adams of Nashville, TN; two step-daughters, Theresa Procopio Scott (Kelly) of Cape Canaveral, FL, and Regina Procopio Clift (Lamar) of Clarksville, TN; one step-son, Frank Benjamin Procopio III (Meg) of Savannah; ten grandchildren, Haley Adams Bozeman (Jonathan), Dustin Adams (Shelly), Seth Crawford, Jacob Crawford (Leslie), Deandra Drew (Jesse), Deidra Murdock (Lance), James McMullen (Tiffany), Austin Adams (Laura), Daniel Adams, Laura Adams; four step-grandchildren, Tyler Scott, Jacob Scott, Alden Procopio, and Bentley Clift; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Priscilla Adams Skelly of Lady Lake, FL; one brother, John Adams (Jan) of Huntsville, AL; a special niece, Rene Ward (Cory) of Clermont, FL; and a nephew, Chad Skelly (Jessica) of IL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Scarborough Adams; and a son, Charles David Adams.

The Funeral Service for Mr. Adams will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Moon and Dr. John McGowan officiating. Entombment will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, prior to the funeral service.
