Peggy Jean Scott

October 22, 1933 — May 10, 2011

Peggy Jean Scott, 77, of Lowndes County, went to be with her Lord Jesus on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at her home.

She was born October 22, 1933 in Augusta, Georgia, a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Annie F. Martin Grimaud. Mrs. Scott taught school for thirty-eight years, mostly at Lake Park Elementary School, retiring in 1999. She helped many students with projects for Social Science Fairs, which she also judged, and was named State Teacher of the Year 1996-1997. Mrs. Scott had been a Sunday School Superintendent, VBS Coordinator, Sunday School Teacher and Children's Church Teacher. She was a member of Valdosta Church of the Nazarene, was an awesome mom and grandma, and always had an open door at her home, creating a large extended family.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Betty Scott of Lowndes County and Randy and Robin Scott of Hueytown, Alabama; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Mike Harrington of Lowndes County, Renee and Randal Hall of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Sandy and Tim Howard of Covington, Georgia; grandchildren, Jeremy and Katherine Scott of Lowndes County, Jana Scott of Lowndes County, Daniel Scott of Warner Robins, Georgia, Rebekah Scott and Samantha Scott of Hueytown, Alabama, Tiffany McClain and Jordan Jerris of Jacksonville, Florida, Evan and Hope Smithwick of Lowndes County, Chris Albritton, KC Harrington and Kristin Harrington all of Stockbridge, Georgia, Amelia Hall of Hershey, Pennsylvania, Zachary Girard of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Melissa and Matthew Howard and Karli and Corbin Buckelew all of Covington, Georgia; three great-grandchildren, Caleb Harrington, Tessa Jerris and Isabella Perry; one sister, Joanne Yarbrough of North Augusta, South Carolina; three brothers and sister-in-laws, Louis and Juliette Grimaud of Grovetown, Georgia, Joe and Gladys Grimaud of Chapin, South Carolina, and Billy and Gale Grimaud of Huntsville, Alabama; many nieces and nephews; and extended family, Leo and Sue Teel and their children Savannah and Nathanael Teel all of Jefferson, Georgia, and Dave and Sherry Goldsberry and their children Mary Lauren, Makayla and Madison Goldsberry all of Ray City. She was preceded in death by her husband Timmons (Gene) Scott, and a daughter, Adell Howard.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Scott will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Valdosta Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Brian Sayre and Pastor Jimmy Burt officiating. Interment will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
