Patricia "Patsy" Cooper Zipperer

Patricia ”Patsy” Cooper Zipperer, 70, of Valdosta, died on Monday, October 19, 2020. She was born on August 25, 1950, in Fernandina Beach, FL, to the late W.E. Cooper, Jr. and Frances Holton Cooper. Growing up in Fernandina, she graduated from Fernandina Beach High School in 1968 and then went to Nassau Baptist College to get a degree in teaching. She taught school in the Nassau Christian Schools for several years. At a family gathering in the early 1980’s, Patsy met Robert Zipperer and they were married in 1981. She soon went back to school to become a Registered Nurse. She worked as a nurse for 12 years before retiring from Presbyterian Home. A native of Fernandina, she developed a love for the beach that would last her whole life. Patsy genuinely cared for and was interested in all those around her. She was a member of Redland Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, O. Robert Zipperer of Valdosta, a brother and sister in law, John E. & Vicki Cooper of Hahira, a sister in law and brother in law, Freida & Johnny Rutland of Tifton and a brother in law and sister in law, Sidney & Kathy Zipperer of Moultrie; two sisters in law, Susan Touchton and Tamara Moody and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral for Mrs. Zipperer will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Redland Baptist Church. Rev. Jay Watkins will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 1 p.m. until service time. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Redland Baptist Church Building fund.
