Pamela Ann Fletcher

January 4, 1958 — July 2, 2021

Pamela Ann Fletcher ended her earthly battle on July 2, 2021. She fought hard and was always an encourager to others who were fighting the same battle.
Pam was born to Clair and Vernita Fletcher on January 4, 1958 at Pineview General Hospital in Valdosta. She was a 1976 honor graduate from Lowndes High school where she was in band and flag corp. She graduated from Valdosta State University with a degree in Special Education and Florida State University with a Master’s in Special Education for the Visually Impaired. She taught at several schools before she finally achieved her ‘dream job’ as a director at the Georgia School for the Blind. She was passionate about helping her vision impaired students and their families navigate the daily obstacles of special needs. Throughout her long career she helped many people secure the best care and opportunities available to them. She was much loved by her co-workers, many of whom still consider her a great friend.
She was even more passionate about her adoration of her three children, Kristen, Leslie and Grant. Her favorite things were spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren, Sammy and Aspen. She also enjoyed spending as much time as she could at the beach, reading and getting married and traveling with said husbands. Along with all of the Fletcher family, she also enjoyed a delicious meal, preferably home cooked by her Daddy, and always with dessert first (because you never know if you might not get to finish the meal, so have dessert first!). She dearly loved Elvis and Christmas karaoke with her siblings Kenny and Jeanne. She loved to laugh with friends and family. She also required excellent grammar and punctuation.
Pam was the first granddaughter on the Fletcher side after seven grandsons – and she was thereafter known as the Princess of Fletcherville by her Granddaddy Fletcher and others. He gave her first car to her when she was 15 – a 1960 Buick Electra which had belonged to his mother. That car seated about 15 people including several giant flag poles from band practice.
She encouraged and inspired many others who traveled the same health battle that she fought. She was always optimistic and totally kept her faith in God and His will throughout this long, hard journey.
She is survived by her fiancé, Joey Wheeler, her father Clair Fletcher, her children Kristen (Bob) Whoolery, Leslie (Carlos) Santana and Grant (Sydney) Zipperer, her two precious grandchildren, Sammy Santana and Aspen Nona Zipperer, two siblings, Kenny (Tonya) Fletcher and Jeanne (Mark) Gustafson. Nieces and nephew Tiffany Lambert, Matti Claire Fletcher, Sunny Gustafson and Max Gustafson. Also, her special cousin, Holly Quinney and special lifetime friend, Fran Upchurch. She was preceded in death by her mother, Vernita Fletcher and nephew, Andrew Lambert.
