Orene Mosley

Orene P. Mosley, 84, of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Langdale Hospice House after a sudden illness. Born in Toombs County, GA to the late Frank Gordon & Ruth Slocum Padgett, she had lived in this area for the past 46 years. Mrs. Mosley grew up in the Toombs & Emmanuel County and her dad worked as a sharecropper. She worked hard growing up to help support the family, plowing behind a mule and working other jobs. She met James L. Mosley as he worked at his grocery store and they were married in 1953. They lived in Oak Park, GA and began their family there. In January of 1970, the family moved to Valdosta. Mr. Mosley was an entrepreneur who operated several businesses over the years, and Mrs. Mosley stayed home with the 10 children. She was a loving mother, but an even more devoted grandmother. An excellent cook, she cooked all the time for family and friends, especially on Sundays. She was a devoted homemaker, sewing clothes for the children, making quilts for family members and others, and baking biscuits. She also enjoyed fishing, vacationing with her children, watching movies, gardening and growing vegetables.
Survivors include her six daughter and sons in law, Martha & Ricky Sapp of Pinetta, Marie & Sam Flemming of Valdosta, Brenda & Jack Nichols of Clearwater, FL, Delphine & Jimmy Street of Valdosta, Emily Mosley Hagan of Lake Park, Jenny & Ricky Hearn of Pooler, and a Son and daughter in law, Keith & Gwen Anderson of Valdosta; 23 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Earlene Crosby of Port Wentworth, Elizabeth Stephens of Bloomingdale, and Opal Gay of Lyons; two brothers, Melvin Padgett of Port Wentworth and Oscar & Diane Padgett of Ellabell; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, James L. Mosley, two sons, James David Mosley and Darvin Frank Mosley and a daughter, Theresa Mosley Brown, and five brothers and sisters. The family would like to thank the Doctors and nurses at the Dasher Heart Center and those at Hospice of South Georgia for all their caring assistance.
The funeral for Mrs. Mosley will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Schappaugh will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening, Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 6 until 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, 2263 Pineview Drive, Valdosta, GA 31602.
