Noellene Johnson Moore, 94, of Oxford died Sunday, April 12, 2009 at her home. She was born in Thomasville, Alabama on April 24, 1914 to the late Noel B. and Tallulah Tompkins Johnson and had lived in Valdosta before moving to Oxford many years ago. Mrs. Moore was a member of the First Baptist Church in Covington and a retired teacher and counselor from Newton County High School. She was affiliated with Oxford College and various educational societies. Mrs. Moore had authored three books and was well respected in the Oxford and Covington areas.
Survivors include her nephews and nieces, Ralph (Sherron) Hult of Lake Park, GA., Steve (Jennifer) Johnson of Providence, Fla., Dixie (James) Johnson of Waynesville, GA., Erika (Ernest) Rowlette of Albuquerque, NM., Valerie (Jerry) Peacock of Tallahassee, Fla., Noel (Pat) Spinks of Ocala, Fla. and Dr. Johnsie Spinks of Ocala, Fla. and numerous great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Professor Dan C. Moore, her brother, Ralph B. Johnson and her three sisters, Louise Westbrook, Nettie Hult and Nellie Spinks.
Graveside services will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Sunset Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Thomas Johnson officiating.
