Nellie Jack (Jackie) Thompson Smith, 77, of Lake Park, passed away at her home on Sunday, October 5, 2014.

She was born February 5, 1937, a daughter of the late James Edward and Minnie Irma Mulder Thompson, and grew up in Barney. Jackie lived in Jacksonville, Florida, for many years and was employed as a waitress at various restaurants, before returning to south Georgia. She enjoyed crocheting, making cookies, and greatly loved her pet dogs and gardening.

She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Houser of Valdosta; grandchildren, Lisa Faucette of Kentucky, Emily Hancock of Valdosta, Jon Ross Hancock and wife Samantha of Tifton, and Scarlett Hall Altman of Acworth; great-grandchildren; a brother, James Edward Thompson of Jacksonville, FL; four sisters, Mary Eunice Thompson Ball of Lake Park, Opal Marteal Thompson Shanner of Tampa, FL, Edna Pearl Thompson Kreutzman and husband Gene of Acworth, and Glenda Strickland and husband Jim of Trenton, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jon Hall; husband, John Smith; and a brother, John Riley Thompson.

The Funeral Service for Ms. Jackie will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at Campground Cemetery, Morven. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
