Nellie Cothron Dasher

May 19, 1916 — August 11, 2009

Nellie Cothron Dasher, 93, of Valdosta, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at her home following a brief illness. Born in Lowndes County on May 19, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Matthew Madison and Maggie Lenora Strickland Cothron. Mrs. Dasher was retired from Lowndes County Farm Bureau where she worked as a secretary for many years. She was a member of St. Augustine Road Church of Christ.

Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Deane Mink of Valdosta; her sons and daughters-in-law, J. William and Ann Dasher of Valdosta, Perry and Angie Dasher of Valdosta, Jerry and Margie Dasher of Dublin, Georgia; seventeen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and a brother, George Cothron of Tampa, Florida. Mrs. Dasher was preceded in death by her husband, Joe W. Dasher; a son, David M. Dasher; two sisters, Mattie Lou Prine and Margaret Peace; and four brothers, Fred Cothron, Grady Cothron, Jack Cothron and Jim Cothron.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Evangelist Evans McMullen and Reverend Jason Marlin will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Augustine Road Church of Christ or to Hospice of South Georgia.
