Nelle S. Wilkes

Nelle S. Wilkes, 88, of Valdosta died Friday, September 12, 2008 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman after a lengthy illness. She was born on April 16, 1920 in Jefferson, Georgia to the late L. C. and Missouri Maude Cheek Skelton and had lived in Valdosta since 1941. Mrs. Wilkes was a charter member of the Northside Baptist Church and a retired sales clerk with Tots and Teens Clothing Shop.

Survivors include her son, Charles E. Wilkes of Valdosta, her daughter, Janice Haymons of Cordele, her granddaughters and grandsons in law, Shelley and Keith McLeod of Hahira, Mary Ann Wilkes Hopkins and Phil Hopkins of Armenia, Beth Wilkes Adams and Willard Adams of Valdosta, Mendy and Walter Bodrey of Cordele, her brother and sister in law, Rev. James Bascomb and Nancy Skelton of Conley, four great grandchildren, Tyler Keith McLeod of Hahira, David James Bodrey and Matthew Chase Bodrey of Cordele and Kade Wilkes McLeod of Hahira. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. H. Wilkes, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 10am, Monday, September 15, 2008 at Riverview Memorial Gardens Masouleum Chapel with Rev. Douglas M. Reddick and Rev. Robert L. Willis officiating.
