Nancy Rutledge Wainer Parrott

August 21, 1934 — June 14, 2015

Nancy Rutledge Wainer Parrott, 80, of Hahira, GA, widow of Jesse Lyle Parrott, MD, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at her home surrounded by her two sons and her "daughters-in-love."

Nancy is survived by Jonathan Rutledge Parrott, MD and his wife, Katie, of Valdosta, and Stephen Price Parrott and his wife, Karen, of Spartanburg, SC. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Jessica Lyle, Samuel Price, Jonathan Rultedge, Jr., Emma Kathryn, Bonnie Elizabeth and Sarah Gray. Nancy is also survived by her dear brother David Samuel Wainer, Jr., and his wife Pat, of Ponte Vedra, FL, and her precious sister, Kathie Wainer Owens and her husband, James, of Valdosta and numerous special nieces and nephews.

Nancy graduated from Valdosta High School with Class of 1951. This was the last Class to graduate from VHS under the 11-year system. She attended Valdosta State College before moving on to the University of Georgia where she became a member of Chi Omega Sorority. In 1955, she married Jesse Lyle Parrott, MD, and enjoyed 59 years with the love of her life.

In 1970, Nancy made a serious commitment to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. For the rest of her life, He became her strength in her daily life. Through her years living in Hahira, she served selflessly in numerous capacities including President of the Hahira Garden Club, Sunday school teacher to young adults, charter member of the Hahira Historical Society, and member of the Hahira City Council. She was an active member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames in the State of Georgia for over 50 years. Her legacy is her daily ministry to anyone who crossed her path with whom she shared her love, faith and encouragement.

Following a private family graveside service on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, the family will receive friends and loved ones from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the beloved yard at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Jesse Parrott. The family would like to express their gratitude to Mr. Jimmy Gosier for his faithful care of the yard.
