Myrtle Mae Williams Mcdonald

July 16, 1915 — December 31, 2014

Myrtle Mae Williams McDonald, 99 years old, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Holly Hill Nursing Home in Valdosta, GA where she has been a resident since January. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Jennings, FL and had a great love for God.
She was born July 16, 1915 in Quitman, Ga to Joseph Robert Williams and Mattie Sauls Williams. Mrs. McDonald lost her mother and brother to the flu epidemic of 1918 in Pennsylvania. Her mother's brother and his wife, Willie and Jenny Sauls raised her in their home in Jennings, FL with their children, Carl, Viola, Mackey, Albert and Zollie. She attended and graduated school in Jennings.
She was married to Lawson McDonald on February 23, 1934 and was a wonderful mother to two daughters, Lorita McDonald Booker born April 16, 1939 and Jeanette McDonald Jones born March 27, 1942.
Mrs. McDonald lived most of her life in Jennings, FL and Valdosta, GA and had many close friends, all of whom predeceased her, as did her husband, siblings, a granddaughter, Sheryl Renee Lynn and son in law, Michael Booker. She was loved by all who knew her and is survived by her daughter, Lorita Booker of Valdosta, daughter and son in law, Jeanette and Michael Jones of Marietta, GA, five grandchildren, Michele Booker Yeager (Ray) of Charleston, WVA, Camille Booker Rigdon (Sonny) of Homerville, GA, Christian Booker (Laura) of Dayton, OH, Shannon Booker (Melissa) of Warner Robins, GA and Kimberly Jones Maxwell (Clair) of Marietta, GA. She is also survived by sixteen great grandchildren, Victoria Yeager, Seth Rigdon, Stephanie, Colin and Ashley Booker, Brooklyn, Brayden, Briton, Brenlynn, Boston and Aislin Booker, Nia and Brendan Turner, Bailey Baldwin, Owen and Anna Maxwell and one great great grandchild, Wyatt as well as many nieces and nephews. There are many fond memories held by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of her cooking, story telling and the many hand- crafted gifts she made with love for each of them.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 5, 2015 at 1:30 p. m. in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Kenneth Sullivan officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p. m. Burial will follow at Carter Cemetery in Echols County. Pallbearers will be Christian Booker, Shannon Booker, Colin Booker, Seth Rigdon, Carson Johnson and Kristopher Sauls.
