Mildred Mae Mccranie Weeks

Mildred Mae McCranie Weeks, 81, of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at South Georgia Medical Center after a long illness. She was born April 21, 1929, in Lowndes County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Joseph Andrew Jackson McCranie and Sarah Etta Hendrix McCranie. She was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church, now called Open Door Fellowship. She was a devoted member until her health declined. Mildred loved her family, and she will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Dennis Smith, three grandchildren, Brett Smith and his wife, Tracey, Jared Smith and his wife, Valerie, all of Valdosta, and Misty Smith Brooks and fiance' Joel Roberts of Douglasville; three great granddaughters, Katlin Marie Brooks and Juliette Elizabeth Roberts of Douglasville, Dakota Kaila Smith of Valdosta, and two step-grandchildren, Kevin Austin Mikell and Ashlie Nicole Wiggins of Valdosta. She is also survived by her devoted sister, Beatrice M. Rodgers and her devoted brother and sister-in-law, Owen J. McCranie and his wife, Lyrice and a special sister-in-law, Jeanette McCranie, a number of nieces and nephews, and a special friend Joyce Trumbo all of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her parents, a beloved sister and brother, Margaret M. Arnold and John D. McCranie and her two brothers-in-law, Francis Arnold and Jimmy Rodgers.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. this evening, Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Pastor Bill Lewis will officiate.
