Mick Wofford

Mick Wofford, 66, of Valdosta, died on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at his residence. Born in Valdosta on November 29, 1948 to the late Paul T. & Jeannette Townsend Wofford, he was a lifelong resident of this area. A graduate of Lowndes High School where he played football, Mr. Wofford has always enjoyed talking about sports and football with his friends. After high school, Mr. Wofford joined the Navy, attended Seal training before an injury forced him out of the military. He then went on to a position as a sales representative for several companies around the southeast before his health caused him to stop in 1997. Golf was a favorite pastime for Mr. Wofford and he was a member of Gateway Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy E. Wofford of Valdosta; two daughters, Michele Kourtney Wofford and Ashley Dawn Wofford both of Fordsville, KY; two sisters, Sherry Whiddon of Ashburn, and Pat Robertson of Cheyenne, WY; two step sons, Charles Maddix of Jacksonville, FL and Woody Maddix of Grayson, KY; a granddaughter, Avery Rae Embry of Fordsville, KY and a special lifelong buddy, Alton Minton. He is preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

A funeral for Mr. Wofford will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Pastor Jack Seiverd will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
