Mary Ellen Hanks, 90, of Orlando since 2013 and formerly of Morven, died Sunday, March 28, 2021 at her daughter’s residence in Orlando. She was born in Cecil, Cook County, GA on February 20, 1931 to the late George Hobby and Mary Magdeline McDaniel Hobby. Mrs. Hanks was a bookkeeper and a member of Morven Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Melba Jean Gaudette of Orlando, son, George N. Thornton of Morven, seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Hanks is predeceased by her daughter, Katrina Moore and husbands, James Perry Thornton and James Harold Hanks.
Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, April 2, 2021 at eleven thirty a. m. at Fellowship Cemetery, Cecil, GA with Pastor Jim Pitt officiating. Burial will follow. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.mclanecares.com.
