Mary Colleen Hanna Moore

February 12, 1913 — December 31, 2014

Mary Colleen Hanna Moore, 101, passed away on December 31, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband and "love of her life", the Reverend William E. "Billy" Moore, and her son, the Reverend Douglas V. Moore, of Ocala. Colleen grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, where she graduated from Indiana University. There she met Billy who was the minister at First Christian Church in Bloomington for eighteen years. Together, with three sons in tow, they moved to Ocala in 1949 where they enjoyed a bountiful life, raised a wonderful family, were leaders in the community and met endearing friends. Colleen was the teacher of the "Redbirds" for many years at Happy Hearts Kindergarten. She was active in the community and served as President of Church Women United for the State of Florida. In 1995 she moved to Valdosta and became a resident at Langdale Place where she began a new life, played a lot of bridge and was a regular attendee of VSU football and basketball games. She was active in First Christian Church and never outlived her importance to her community of faith, those members of First Christian Church, both in Ocala and Valdosta. Colleen was a gracious and proper lady who prided herself on poise and dignity. In her later years, even though she had lost most of her sight, she was never without a smile. She was a gifted seamstress for years. Her true gift, however, was in the raising of her three sons.

She is survived by two loving sons and their spouses, Dr. John Moore (Susan) of Blythewood, SC, Bill Moore (Yvette) of Valdosta, her daughter-in-law, Ruby Moore of Ocala, nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two beloved nieces, several great nieces and nephews, the Jimmy Johnson family of Senatobia, Mississippi, and her loving and devoted friend and caregiver Marilyn Williams of Hahira. Her infectious smile and courageous heart will be missed by all. The family expresses its heartfelt appreciation to all of the staff at Langdale Place and Hospice of South Georgia.

A celebration of Colleen's life will be planned and announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to First Christian Church in Valdosta or Ocala. Condolences may be conveyed to the family on the obituary page of www.mclanecares.com Carson McLane Funeral Home
