Marion Mcginty Myddelton

September 21, 1921 — August 14, 2016

Marion McGinty Myddelton passed away on Sunday, August 14, at the age of 94. Funeral service conducted by Pastors Chuck Owens and Mac Weaver of First Baptist Church will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family will greet friends one hour before the funeral, which will be followed by a private burial service at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Myddelton was born in Brent, Georgia, in September 1921 to the late Milton Clayton and Marie Clements McGinty. She was married to the late James Payson (Jake) Myddelton, Jr. from July 1940 until his death in December 2001. They lived for a number of years in Waycross, Georgia, and moved to Valdosta in 1967.

Mrs. Myddelton was a dedicated Christian and a member of First Baptist Church and the Joy Fidelis Sunday School Class, both of which she attended faithfully until recent declining health forced otherwise. Her greatest joy was her family. She was also a member of the John Benning Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Milton Stephen (Steve) Myddelton of Valdosta, and two sisters. She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Burrows and husband Jim of Moultrie, Georgia; a son, Jim Myddelton and wife Jeane of Greenville, South Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Myddelton of Valdosta; grandchildren, Katy B. Martin and husband Bud, Stephen Myddelton, Joy M. Moye and husband Brent, Jason Myddelton and wife Jodi, Molly M. Smith and husband Craig, James Brown Burrows and wife Tina, Jake M. Myddelton and wife Sandra, Sydney M. Parker and husband John, and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to her compassionate caregivers at Langdale Place, South Georgia Medical Center, and Langdale Hospice House of Valdosta, and requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to First Baptist Church of Valdosta or Langdale Hospice House of Valdosta. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
