Marie Wellmaker Puckett

Marie Wellmaker Puckett, 74, of Valdosta, died at her home on Thursday, January 25, 2007, after a short illness. Born in Deland, Florida, on November 5, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Lois and Carl Wellmaker. Mrs. Puckett was a 1954 graduate of Valdosta State University. She served as the Pastor’s Secretary at Park Avenue United Methodist Church for 22 years. She was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church.

Survivors are her husband, James L. Puckett, Sr., of Valdosta; daughters, Sandy Puckett of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Karen Puckett Suttles of Douglas, Georgia, a son and daughter in law, James L., Jr. and Patricia Puckett of Hahira, Georgia; three grandchildren, Autumn Suttles Musgrove of Douglas, Alex Suttles of Douglas, Georgia, Morgan Puckett of Hahira, Georgia; two great grandchildren, Ryleigh Musgrove and Bailee Musgrove both of Douglas, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Park Avenue United Methodist Church. Dr. Craig Rikard and Reverend V. L. Daughtery will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. Donations may be made to the Park Avenue United Methodist Church or to Hospice of South Georgia.
