Marian Ollie (Lovey) Godwin Gulliver

October 1, 1933 — July 22, 2014

Marian Ollie "Lovey" Godwin Gulliver, 80, of Twin Lakes, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Langdale Hospice House.

She was born October 1, 1933, the daughter of the late Ollie and Thelma Dampier Godwin, in Lowndes County and grew up in Valdosta, and graduated from Valdosta State College with the Class of 1954. She spent four years working in New York City as a dancer, model and actress before returning to Lowndes County and teaching school. Following her marriage to Harold S. "Hal" Gulliver II, the couple moved to Atlanta, where she also taught school. Residing in the Ansley Park neighborhood of Atlanta, Mrs. Gulliver was very active in civic associations, including the Garden Club of Ansley Park. She moved back to Twin Lakes in the mid-1980's to care for her mother and has resided there since. Mrs. Gulliver was active in The Lake Park Area Historical Society, was Secretary for four years, the Lake View Book Club of Lake Park, and was previously active with the Lowndes County Historical Society.

She is survived by her husband, Harold S. "Hal" Gulliver II of Twin Lakes; and many special, close friends that were like family to her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by their son, Harold S. Gulliver III.

A Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014, at the Lake Park Area Historical Society Museum, 300 Railroad Avenue, Lake Park. Interment will take place at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Valdosta. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to The Lake Park Area Historical Society Museum, P.O.
