Marian B. Ellis

February 9, 1915 — September 19, 2009

Marian B. Ellis, 94, formerly of Syracuse, New York and recently of Langdale Place, Valdosta, Georgia, died at Langdale Hospice House on Saturday, September 19, 2009 after a brief illness.

Born in Bristol, Ontario County, New York, Mrs. Ellis resided most of her life in the Westvale area of Syracuse, New York. She has resided in Douglas and Valdosta, Georgia, since 2001 near her surviving daughter.

Marian graduated from the State College for Teachers, University of the State of New York in Albany, New York in 1937 and was awarded a Master of Science degree from Syracuse Universty in 1967. She retired from a teaching career in the Westhill Central School district, in Syracuse, New York. A life-long communicant of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, she was active in the parish, especially heading up the Sunday School department for over 20 years. Mrs. Ellis was an active Audobon birder with a large life-list of identified birds from her birding field trip.

Preceded in death by her husband, Fred Ellis, and one daughter, Janet Ellis, she is survived by oldest daughter, Marilyn Miller and son-in-law, Cecil Lamonte Miller II, of Valdosta.

Memorial services will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Syracuse, New York at a time to be decided by the family. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse.
