Margaret Lanell Taylor

February 18, 1923 — March 16, 2012

Margaret Lanell Wright (Grandma) Taylor, 89, of Valdosta died on Friday, March 16, 2012 following a short illness. She was born in Adel, Georgia on February 18, 1923 to the late H.L. (Hodge), Sr., and Willie Campbell Wright and has been a resident of Valdosta for the past 55 years. She was a retired mail carrier for the United States Postal Service and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Grandma loved to love….. her family, friends, neighbors, and anyone else who was blessed enough to be a part of her life. She devoted her life to her family and seeing that they were always "well fed" and taken care of. Cooking! Cooking! Cooking! Fried chicken and all the fixins with the best sweet tea in South Georgia!! She was the rock that our family leaned on, and will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Brinson and JoAnn Taylor of Panacea, Florida; five grandchildren, Stacey and Virgil Moore of Valdosta, Brint Taylor also of Valdosta, Stephanie Taylor of Jacksonville, Florida, Amy Taylor and Anna Taylor both of Richmond, Virginia; six great-grandchildren, Shelbie, Cole, Saralyn, and Kyle Moore all of Valdosta, Peyton Wright of Richmond, Virginia, and Ansley Taylor of Valdosta; granddog, Mullet Taylor; a sister, Annette Wright, and brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Virginia Wright all of Adel, sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Tommy Daniels of Jasper, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Burle B. Taylor, son, Bobby Taylor and eight brothers and sisters.

Services for Mrs. Taylor will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Tim VanLandingham and Rev. David Carraway officiating. The burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time.
