Mantle-Lee Walker Hartley, went to her heavenly reward on September, 20, 2013, at the age of 91 after a lengthy illness.. She was a two-time survivor of cancer and was a longtime resident of St, Johns, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, James U. Hartley, and by her father and mother, William Henry Walker and Mable Watson Walker, and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mabel H. (Harry).Altman, brother-in-laws, Alfred (Bernice) Hartley, .Clarence E. Hartley, and her close cousins, Geraldine (Cecil) Aderhold. Survivors include daughters: Alice (Donald) Roberts and Kathryn Cowdrey, grandchildren: Brian (Keri) Roberts, Tim Cowdrey, Jennifer (Rich) Bonacci, great grandchildren: Anthony, Victoria, Christina, and Alyssa Bonacci and Lang Roberts. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Bernice (Clarence) Hartley and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends and neighbors.
Mantle-Lee was a lifelong homemaker, and enjoyed crafts.including quilting.and various kinds of needlework as well as baking. She also enjoyed gardening, tending her many flowering plants and shrubs and sharing their blooms. She was active in several churches during her lifetime, playing the piano, or directing music for church services, programs for children, and holidays. She was active in the Women's Missionary Programs and she loved participating in choir and taught many Sunday School classes in her lifetime. She last served our Lord at the Mandarin
Church of God, Jacksonville, FL.. A celebration of her life will be held privately at a later date. God saw she was getting tired and a cure was not to be.
