Mamie Louise Gray Whiddon

January 25, 1937 — November 3, 2017

Mamie Louise Gray Whiddon age 80 died Friday, November 3rd 2017. She was born in Valdosta to the late Jeff and Louise Gray. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who unselfishly served her family. She was also a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church. If someone was in need, she gave. If someone needed prayer, she prayed. If someone was hungry, she cooked. If someone was sad, she hugged. And if someone needed defending, she was the one you wanted by your side. She will always be remembered by her family and church for openly worshiping her Savior, giving him praise and glory, and always praying that her family would come to know the Lord.

Survivors include her four children and their spouses, Vicky and Wayne Montgomery of Lake Park, GA, Van and Shirley Whiddon of Valdosta, Tammy and Jurgen Christie of Valdosta, Danny and Karen Whiddon of Dallas, TX; 9-grandchildren and their spouses, David Whiddon, Jonathan and Kimberly Montgomery, Laurie and Buckley Wildes, Joshua and Kelly Montgomery, Travis and Elizabeth Christie, Tiffany Christie, Katie Whiddon, Hunter and Stephanie Whiddon, Emily Whiddon; 17-great grandchildren; her sister, Betty Kennan of Valdosta; brother and sister in law, James Jefferson (Jeff) and Retha Gray of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Lee Whiddon, her brother, Robert B. Gray and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Victory Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Ward and her grandson, Hunter Whiddon officiating. Burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30pm-3:00pm at the church.
