Maetrelle Elizabeth Shehan

August 30, 1918 — August 7, 2016

Maetrelle Elizabeth Myers Shehan went to be with the Lord August 7, 2016. Maetrelle was born August 30, 1918 in Lakeland, GA. Maetrelles father, Turner Michael Myers died of cancer when she was 13 months old. Maetrelle lived with her mother, Teressa Myers and her grandmother, Maggie Meadows. Maetrelle accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord when she was about 12 years old and was a faithful follower of Him for the rest of her life. Her lifelong Bible Verse was Psalm 91:1. Maetrelle graduated from Pinehurst H.S in 1935. She met her husband, William Snowden Shehan and they were married August 12, 1938 at the first Baptist Church in Valdosta, GA. Snowden was a coach and principal in the surrounding school district for many years. As for Maetrelle, she found strength in the Lord as she worked very hard in many church jobs, cared for her mother, and held down a full-time job at the Owens-Illinois Paper Company. They had one daughter, Betty Jo, who married Lt. Col. Neil Anderson Coddington; 5 grandchildren, Julie Theresa Pederson and husband, Gary, Jeffrey Paul Coddington and wife, Angie, Jeremy Neil Coddington and wife, Delane, Jennifer Jo Coddington (better known as Jenny Penny), and Wilbur Koger who was spiritually adopted at 19; great-grandchildren, Jenna Danielle Lowstutter and husband, Rob, Luke Christopher Pederson, Lacy Jenae Pederson, Jacob David Pederson, Krista Ann Coddington, Preston Anders Coddington, Joshua Neil Coddington and wife Regina, Zachary Alexander Coddington, McKenzie Delane Coddington, Sierra Delane Coddington, Paul Koger, Jace Koger; great-great-grandchildren, Alan Lowstutter, Max Lowstutter, Paisley Jade Johannech, Alexis Joy, Ransom Valor, Avery Reign, and one on the way.
Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2016 in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
