M. G. Porter

Milledge (M. G.) Porter, 91, of Lake Park, died on Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on January 27, 1915, in Lowndes County, the son of the late John Lawrence and Julia Ann Swilley Porter. Mr. Porter was a farmer and a carpenter. He was an avid fisherman and friend to everyone who wanted to be a friend to him.

Preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Kinsey Porter and a grandson, Keith Swilley, Mr. Porter is survived by his sons and daughter in law, Lawrence Allen Porter, Benny and Margaret Porter of Lake Park, daughters and sons in law, Mary Hickman of Lake Park, Wanda Gail and Johnny Swilley of Valdosta,
Carolyn Nutt of Waynesboro, Tennessee, Sue Porter Plair of Hahira, Linda and Rudy Ealy of Little Rock, Arkansas, Libby and Albert Rogers of Lake Park, Debra Porter of Atlanta, brother, Claude Porter of Lake Park, nineteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, March 19, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church. Reverend Marvin Smith, Reverend Mickey Corbett and Reverend Jeff Plair will officiate. Burial will be at Carter Cemetery. Mr. Porter will lie in state at the church from 1:30 until service time on Sunday.
