Lona Myrl Hicks Dixon

LONA MYRL HICKS DIXON, 85, of Valdosta died Saturday, June 10, 2006 at the home her daughter, Darlene Keeling whom had been caring for Mrs. Dixon during her illness of the past six months. She was born on August 24, 1920 in Hamilton County, Florida to the late Calvin and Rosa Lee Prather Hicks and had lived in this area all of her life. Mrs. Dixon was the oldest member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Valdosta. She enjoyed going to church and being with family and friends.

Survivors include three sons and three daughters in law, Thomas and Joyce Dixon, Harvey Dixon, Marvin and Angela Dixon, Jenny Dixon all of Valdosta, four daughters and three sons in law, Ruby Edwards of Asheville, NC., Harriett and Ken Sutton, Linda Faye and Mike Gilliam all of Valdosta, Darlene and Charles Keeling of Adel, 30-grandchildren, 41-great grandchildren, 2-great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Harvey Dixon, a daughter, Frances Lee Parker, two sons and a daughter in law, Leroy and Marie Dixon, Woodrow Dixon, a son in law, Earl Edwards and three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, June 13, 2006 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with burial to follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
