Linda Darnell Cone

LINDA DARNELL CONE, 59, of Valdosta, went to be with her Lord and Savior after a short illness on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at South Georgia Medical Center.

Linda was born February 14, 1950 in Annapolis, MD, a daughter of Robert J. Moore, Sr. and Helen Agnes Hefner Moore. In 1986, she and her husband, Billy I. Cone, Sr., moved to Valdosta from Thomasville, and Linda had been employed as a Wal-Mart associate for 18 years.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She was a strong person, a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her Lord, her church and her church family. She selflessly cared for others before herself and always provided for her family. Linda loved life and enjoyed dancing.

In addition to her husband of 38 years, Billy I. Cone, Sr., she is survived by two sons and daughter-in-laws, Billy I. Cone, Jr. and Gloria of Brunswick, and Cary D. Bennett and Melissa of Valdosta; one daughter, Angela Cone of Valdosta; five grandchildren, Anthony Cone, Jennifer Williams, Jason Williams and wife Leslie, Cameron and Ashley Bennett; one great-grandson, Luke Jimenez; her father Robert J. Moore, Sr. of Zephyr Hills, FL; two sisters, Shirley Lawson and husband Marvin of Annapolis, MD, and Dorothy Conley and husband Roger of Kileen, TX; one brother, Robert J. Moore, Jr. and wife Beata of Stevensville, MD; and her God sister of 18 years, Dianne Mullis and husband Tim of Valdosta; nieces, nephews, and many special friends. She was predeceased by her mother in 1993.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 6, 2009, at the First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Brian Sayre officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
