Lillian Chitty Manganaro, 92, of Valdosta died Tuesday, May 10, 2106 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Valdosta on July 22, 1923 to the late Stephen A. and Kizzie Harris Chitty and was a lifelong resident of Valdosta. Mrs. Manganaro was a member of the Northside Baptist Church. She retired from the Office of Business and Finance at Valdosta State University. After retiring she returned to VSU to work in Dr. Hugh Bailey's office when he served as President. She was dedicated to the faculty, staff and students of VSU for thirty four years. Mrs. Manganaro was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed working in her yard and taking care of her family and friends. Mrs.Manganaro loved the Lord and loved to share her faith by teaching Sunday Schoo for more than thirty years.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Manganaro of Hahira; her grandchildren, Jessica and Myron Crowe of Maryville, TN and Rachael Thompson of Hahira; great granddaughter, Catherine Crowe of Maryville, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Manganaro. The family would like to thank the staff of Fellowship Home in Nashville and the fifth floor staff of South Georgia Medical Center for their love and care shown to Mrs. Manganaro.
Funeral services will be held at 10am, Friday, May 13, 2016 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
