Lewis Thomas Griffin

March 1, 1923 — January 25, 2010

Lewis Thomas (Tommy) Griffin, 86, of the Shiloh Community in Hahira died Monday, January 25, 2010 at Smith Northview Hospital. He was born on March 1, 1923 in Lowndes County to the late Lewis Ashley and Addie Powers Griffin and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Griffin was a member of The Rock Church which he loved very much and served in the United States Army from 1951-1954. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Elvena F. Griffin of Hahira, his three children and their spouses, Gwynne S. and Rev. Patrick Crane of Ocala, Fla., Lewis Gregory and Debra Meadows Griffin of Cape Coral, Fla. and Cyndi and Rev. Edward Day of Port St. Lucie, Fla., five grandchildren, Shannon Wisenbaker, Alex McRoy, Zach Day, Thad Day and Whitney Lairsey, four great grandchildren, Haleigh Henderson, Brett McRoy, Nicole Knutsen and Adain Thomas Lairsey, one brother and sister in law, Wassie and Mary Griffin of Gainesville, Fla. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Memorial services will be held at 4pm, Thursday, January 28, 2010 at The Rock Church, 1401 Old Clyattville Rd., Valdosta, GA 31601 with Pastor Doug Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Rock Church. Martin/McLane Funeral Home of Hahira.
