Letha M. Godwin Blocker

Letha M. Godwin Blocker, 85, of Valdosta, died at home on Sunday, July 26, 2009 after a long illness. Born on July 27, 1923 in Valdosta, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Kelly and Mae Belle Moore Godwin. She died one day before her 86th birthday. Mrs. Blocker was associated with Nolan's Grocery for 31 years. She loved to cook and work in her yard. Mrs. Blocker was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bill E. Blocker of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Billy G. and Mary M. Blocker of Valdosta; granddaughter, Nikki Blocker Tye and her husband, Ashley Tye of Valdosta, Justin M. Blocker and wife, Joni T. Blocker of Valdosta; a niece, Sara Hendrix and caregiver, Belinda Fair, both of Valdosta.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Rev. John Yates officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home.
