Leroy David Murphy

Leroy David Murphy, 78, of Lakeland, died on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at South Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born in Rossville, Georgia on February 10, 1940 to the late Mack Duffey Murphy and Lola Mae Smith Murphy and has been a lifelong resident of this area. He had been employed with Tom Hutchinson Construction until declining health forced him into early retirement several years ago. Mr. Murphy loved to fish and he loved his pups.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Joseph Paquet of Lakeland, and Falecia and Garry Thornton of Valdosta; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Johnny and Shawn Murphy of Portland, Washington, Charles Murphy of Plant City, Florida, and Edgar Murphy of Valdosta; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Sue Murphy.
Services for Mr. Leroy David Murphy will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Gupton officiating. The burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
