Lana Jo May Dorminey

Lana Jo May Dorminey, 62, of Valdosta died Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at her home after a sudden illness. She was born on September 21, 1946 in Bainbridge to the late Robert Frank, Sr. and Zadie Glyn Shiver May and had lived in Valdosta since 1964. Mrs. Dorminey was a member of the Bemiss Road Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School for many years, sang in the choir and played the piano occasionally. She retired as a manager from Bell South after thirty six years of service and was very active with and
had served as President for the Telephone Pioneers of America which provided services to the community including TDD phones to the hearing impaired.

Survivors include two daughters and a son in law, Cristi and Jerry Gill, DeAnna Bujnowski all of Valdosta, grandchildren, Jade Gill, Abby Gill and Michael Bujnowski all of Valdosta, sister and brother in law, Sharon May Dunlap and Jimmy Dunlap of Valdosta, special niece, Jori Taylor Hall of Valdosta, two brothers and sisters in law, John H. and Donna May of Rockledge, Fla., Tommy and Euletha May of Tallahassee, Fla., nieces and nephews, Chris May, Eddy May both of Gainesville, Fla., Tommy May of Tallahassee, Fla., Tammy May of Alexandria, VA. and Susan Rucker of Deltona, Fla. She was preceded in death by a son, Phillip David Dorminey and a brother, Robert Frank May, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, April 17, 2009 at the Bemiss Road Baptist Church with Dr. Danny E. Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
