Latrecia (T.C.) Barden Hunnicutt Fornes

January 3, 1961 — April 15, 2015

LaTrecia (T.C.) Barden Hunnicutt Fornes, 54, of Valdosta, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, after a courageous eight year battle with cancer.

She was born January 3, 1961 in Valdosta, graduating with the Class of 1979 from Valdosta High School, where she was a member of the Marching Cats and the Pi Gamma Phi and Sigma Delta Theta Sororities. For ten years she had worked at the Merita Bread store, later working as Fire Disaster Coordinator at Bishop Clean Care for eight years. T.C. was a member of Gateway Baptist Church; she lived her life for the Lord and served Him everyday. She was a very strong supporter of Relay for Life; she never met a stranger, and always left you with a smile. She greatly loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved gardening, cooking, hand-stitchery, arts and crafts, and most of all the beach at Panama City.

She is survived by her husband of seventeen years, Paul Fornes of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Dana Hunnicutt of Lake Park; daughter and son-in-law, April and Chad Griffin of Brooks County; son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Rondha Fornes of Lake Park; seven grandchildren, Logun Nowell, Brantley (Cotton) Hunnicutt, Cayson Fornes, Chasity Griffin, Ansley Griffin, Savannah Hitchner and Bryce Taylor; her father and step-mother, Jimmy and Gail Barden of Valdosta; her mother and step-father, Lana and Walter Wilson of Valdosta; sister, Belinda (Ben) Barden of Valdosta; special mother-in-law, Nancy Fornes of Valdosta; two sisters-in-law, Marsha McCord and Sara Fornes, both of Valdosta; brother-in-law and wife, Bruce and Judy Fornes of Valdosta; special friends, Danny and Debbie Hunnicutt; nieces and nephews, Jessica Wilson and son Austin of Nashville, Eric Boyd and wife Kayla, and their son Hunter, of Valdosta, Caelie Hunnicutt of Savannah, Rachel Smith and husband Jim of Valdosta, Marley Fornes of Valdosta, Matthew Fornes of Valdosta, and George McCord of Brooks County; cousin, James Ware and his wife April, and their children Ashlyn and Zach, of Woodstock; and many special aunts, uncles and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John Henry Barden, Della and Cecil Chauncey, Neil and Susie Sellars; an aunt, Latrelle Ware; her father-in-law, William L. (Bill) (PawPaw) Fornes; and a special friend, Edith Hunnicutt.

T.C.'s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Eric Anderson and the staff at the Pearlman Cancer Center for all of the wonderful care.

A Memorial Service for Mrs. Fornes will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Rev. Tommy Bussey officiating. Entombment will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the Pearlman Cancer Center, 2501 North Patterson St., Valdosta, GA 31602.
