Kirby E. Dumas

Kirby E. Dumas, 83, of Hahira died Saturday, March 3, 2018. He was born in Adel on April 2, 1934 to the late E. Z. and Ruby Harrod Dumas and had lived in Hahira for many years. He was a member of the Pineview Baptist Church and a former member of Salem United Methodist Church. Mr. Dumas worked with the telephone company and then became a sales agent for Liberty National Life Insurance Company. He enjoyed repairing and selling CB Radios, fishing and dining out. Mr. Dumas served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Dumas was a member of the Hahira Lions Club, Hahira VFW and former commander of the American Legion. He was a loving husband who never met a stranger.
Survivors include his wife, Robbie Nell Cowart Dumas of Hahira; his son, Kirby Allen Dumas of Valdosta; three stepdaughters, Ginger Fender of Hahira, Mary Evelyn Yawn of Quitman, Phyllis Cowart Lindsey of Moultrie; two stepsons, Rhudolph Charles, Jr. and Peggie Cowart of Lakeland, Kenneth Cowart of Fitzgerald; his grandchildren, Bradley Dumas, Kristin Dumas; his stepgrandchildren, Robert Fender, Anita Fender, Valerie Fiveash, James L. Schofil, Jr., Lori Simpson, Robin Powell, Harley Houston, Dusty Cowart, Brandon Cowart, Keeley Walden, Hunter Cowart, Jason Cowart, Keri Reese, Kristen Cowart; his step great grandchildren, Ashley Wynn, Dillon Darling, Devin Darling, Allie Fiveash, Mikayla Simpson, Tristan Carter, Morgan Powell, Max Powell, Matthew Powell, Dusty and Willow Cowart, Branson Cowart, Preston Walden, Kayson Cowart, Taylor, Turner and Anzleigh Reese, AllieAnna and Aubrey Cowart, Cole Cowart. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Adams Dumas, two sisters, Treva Dumas and Ida Ann Kelly and a stepdaughter, Loretta Cowart Renfroe.
Funeral services will be held at 4pm, Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Salem Cemetery.
