Kenneth P. Johnson

KENNETH P. JOHNSON, 54, of Valdosta, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 12, 2009.

Ken was born July 14, 1954 in Alameda, CA, a son of the late Gilbert Wilson Johnson and Lillian May Arnold Johnson. He was very proud of his service in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1972 to 1975. Ken was employed at Jacuzzi and was a member of Southland Church. He loved to cook, watch NASCAR, and go camping. He greatly enjoyed his family and going to concerts at Wild Adventures. Through Southland Church Ken was involved in prison ministry on Monday nights.

He is survived by one sister, Barbara L. Johnson and her partner Susan Bollinger of Valdosta; his former wife, Shirley Johnson-Dugan of Quitman; his step-mother, Ardith R. Johnson of Paramount, CA; two brothers, A.J. Johnson of Paramount, CA, and Kevin Schlapak and his wife Marcee of Benton Harbor, MI; and by his step-daughter, Shannon Kingston of Hahira.

Memorial Services will be held at 6 pm Thursday, April 16, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Orozco and Pastor Martin Collins officiating. Ken’s family will receive friends one hour prior to the Memorial Service on Thursday, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
