Kenneth Norman

December 9, 1935 — July 11, 2023

Kenneth Norman, a resident of Valdosta, passed away on July 11, 2023, at the age of 87. He was surrounded by loved ones at Fellowship Home Brookside. Kenneth was born on December 9, 1935, to Jesse and Minnie Norman who preceded him in death.

Kenneth attended Auburndale High School where he actively participated in football and baseball, later even playing on a minor league baseball team after graduating. He continued his education at the University of Florida, proudly earning his degree. Kenneth briefly served in the U.S. Air Force before returning to the Tampa Bay Area where he began his career at GTE as an Accountant.

It was at the annual Strawberry Festival in Plant City that Kenneth met Norma Jean Carter, who would become his beloved wife. They were married on August 27, 1966, and enjoyed a beautiful union for 50 years until Norma Jean's passing in 2017. Kenneth actively participated in his community, serving as a member of the Kiwanis Club, enjoyed woodworking and playing golf at the Buckhorn Country Club in Brandon, FL. He was also an ardent supporter of University of Florida Gator Sports, especially baseball and football. Kenneth was a long-time member of the Brandon First United Methodist Church, which is now known as New Hope United Methodist Church. In Valdosta, he attended Park Avenue Church.

Kenneth leaves behind his loving daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Mike Chao of Charlotte, NC, and Elizabeth and Carl Holley of Valdosta. He was a proud grandfather to Parker Brookfield, Grant Brookfield, Carter Holley, Jared Holley, and Ben Holley. Kenneth also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma Jean Carter Norman, his brother J.H. Norman, and his sister Carolyn Moree.

A funeral service to honor Kenneth's life will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 10am at the River Pavilion at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Reverend Jamie Bone will officiate the service. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 9am to 10am.
