Katharine Scott Landrum

Katharine Scott Landrum of Cumming, GA, known as Katie or Katie Scott to her friends and family, passed away on October 10th, 2017. She was born on July 31, 1998 in Huntington, West Virginia. Katie Scott was a kind and loving child of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her parents: Lee Anne and John Landrum; her brothers, Griffin, twin brother John (Jack) and Archie Landrum; her maternal grandparents, Lee and Archie Griffin of Valdosta, GA; her aunt and uncle, Janice and Scott Griffin of Montgomery, AL, her cousins, Rebecca Griffin of Chicago, IL and Jessica Griffin of Montgomery, AL; her great uncles and aunts; Lewis and and Mel Whitfield, Morgan and Ann Whitfield both of Tupelo, MS. Also surviving are her great aunt Margaret Ann Griffin, Valdosta, GA., and cousins Bryan Griffin, Valdosta, GA., Martica Fischman and husband Henry, and LaVoe and Thomas Mulgrew, all of Nashville, TN. Cousins Glenn Harris of Gilbert, LA, Brent Harris of Rayville, LA, Bill and Genny Marionneaux of Winnsboro, LA, Todd Harris of Metarie, LA, and Tyler Harris of Monroe, AL. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Tom and Blanche Landrum.

Katie Scott attended Mountainview Education Center and previously attended South Forsyth High School, in Cumming, GA. She was a member of the youth group at Creekside United Methodist Church.

Katie’s passion was caring for animals. She loved her dogs and cat, and loved to pet sit for neighbors and had worked at Crestview Animal Hospital in Cumming. Her love of animals was guiding her to a career in the veterinary field.

In addition to animals, Katie loved the outdoors, and was most happy to be in the wilderness hiking or kayaking. Also, she enjoyed horseback riding and caring for horses. She was artistic, enjoyed sewing and liked to read for pleasure. She was adventuresome, and liked skydiving and ziplines.

Visitations are Saturday, October 14 from 2:00 – 4:00pm and 6:00 – 8:00pm at McDonald & Son Funeral Home, Cumming, GA. Service will be held Sunday, October 15 at 2:00pm Creekside United Methodist Church, Cumming, GA. The graveside service will take place Monday, October 16 at 3:00pm in the family plot at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Valdosta, GA.
