Karen Duke Postel

Karen Duke Postel, 68, of Valdosta, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016 at her residence following a brief illness. She was born on June 29, 1948 in Tallassee, Alabama to the late Murray Duke, Sr. and Rosalie Nummy Duke. She attended Auburn University. Karen spent most of her life working with sales companies, also volunteering with the Literacy Volunteer program and Snake Nation Writers Guild, among others. She was the cheerleader of her family, always supporting each member's endeavors and cherishing every moment with them. Karen enjoyed reading and writing poetry. She loved listening to a variety of music, with Rod Stewart and Otis Redding as her favorites. She loved to share in happiness with others. She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by her loving husband, William Postel of Valdosta, whom she adored; her daughter, Tara Adams of Jacksonville, Florida; three grandchildren, Drew Adams of Eclectic, Alabama, Anna Adams of Jacksonville, Florida, Matthew Adams of Eclectic, Alabama; one great-grandchild, Samantha Adams of Eclectic, Alabama; her mother, Rosalie Duke, her sister, Marcy Burns, her nephew, Gabriel Burns, and her niece, Mary Catherine Burns all of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her father, Murray Duke, Sr. and her brother, Murray Duke Jr.
