August 20, 1938 — March 17, 2006

Julia Christie, 67 of Valdosta died on Friday, March 17, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. Born on August 20, 1938 in Valdosta, she was the daughter of the late Robert Floyd and Ila Dykes Copeland. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and of the Church of Christ Faith.

Survivors are her husband, Claude Christie of Valdosta; sons and daughters-in-law, Hugh and Laura Christie of Lake Park, Don and Sherry Christie of Valdosta; grandchildren, William, Matthew, Nicholas and Hannah Christie; a special daughter and son, Ashley and Brett Dasher of Lake Park, numerous nieces and nephews, and a sister in law, Mary Copeland of Panama City, Florida. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert D. Copeland.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2006 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Brother David Paulk officiating. Burial will follow at Dasher Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Order of Eastern Star, 1610 Norman Drive, Valdosta, GA 31601.
