Judge Ruby K. Sirmans (Ret.)

Judge Ruby K. Sirmans (Ret.), 82, of Valdosta, died on Friday, March 26, 2021 at South Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born in Berrien County on May 16, 1938 to the late Noah and Margaret Griffin Kirkland. She graduated from Berrien County High School where she played on the basketball team. She worked for 40 plus years as a clerk in the Probate Court for Lowndes County and from 1991 until 2009 she served as the Lowndes County Probate Judge. In her retirement, she loved to travel, go bowling, play golf, and work in her garden. Above all, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed every minute she spent with them.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Suzi Sirmans; her grandchildren and their spouses, Noah and Sasha Sirmans, Alicia and Jeremy Bellflower, and Zach and Morgan Sirmans all of Valdosta; her great-grandchildren, Joshua Jackson, Logan Bellflower, and Nash Sirmans; her brother and sister-in-law, Donnie and Carolyn Jean Kirkland of Nashville, Georgia; special friends, Terri Adams McDowell, Mary Nell Robertson, Sara Crow, and Lexxie Clements; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lucious J. Sirmans.
Services for Judge Ruby K. Sirmans will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 29, 2021 at Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. J.W. Dukes officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 3-5 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
