Joseph Wayne Ramsby

Joseph Wayne Ramsby, 86, of Valdosta passed away Monday, June 26, 2023 at Fellowship Home. He was born in Walkerton, IN, on June 11, 1937 to the late Howard and Viola Nelsom Ramsby. Mr. Ramsby was owner and operator of I-75 Wrecker Service and Garage. He was married almost forty years to his loving wife, Ann and enjoyed racing, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Race Car Hall of fame, known as “Tiger Joe” and raced all over southeast GA. Mr. Ramsby was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed spending time with his family, was well known and never met a stranger. Mr. Ramsby spent his retirement years at their vacation home in Steinhatchee, FL. He was a friend to all.

Mr. Ramsby is survived by his wife Ann Ramsby of Valdosta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kristi Jo and Brenan Rigg of Valdosta, Stacie and Rick Lewis of Barney; son, Joe Sowell of Alamogordo, NM; grandchildren, Brittany (Lucas) Haney of Barney, Hunter Parrish (fiancée Beth Lokey) of Valdosta, Morgan Parrish (fiancé Kole Church) of Lake Park, Angela (Todd) Gwaltney of Hanscom AFB, Boston, Massachusetts; three great grandchildren, Chase Haney, Zander Gwaltney and Brennan Gwaltney of Hanscom AFB, Boston, MA. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Charles and sister, Alice.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at three p.m. at Redland Baptist Church with Reverend Jay Watkins and Reverend Tommy Bussey officiate. Burial will follow at Redland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from two until three p.m. at the church.
