Joseph F. Cooper, 93, of Valdosta, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016, at Langdale Hospice House. Born on January 29, 1923, in Somerville, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Joseph H. and Katherine Cooper. Mr. Cooper served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific and took part in the invasion of Iwo Jima. Upon leaving the Navy he worked for CBS in New York for 39 years.
Survivors include brothers, Donald S. Cooper, of Walnut Creek, California, and Jack Cooper of Valdosta; a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by a sister, Katerine Donelan.
As per his wishes, Mr. Cooper will be cremated with no formal services. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com. McLane Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
