Johnny Ard

Johnny Ard, 50, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 1, 1967, Johnny was a first round draft pick for the Minnesota Twins in 1988 and later played for the San Francisco Giants. He loved fishing and spending time with his boys. A much loved baseball coach, he loved his players and treated them as they were his own boys. Johnny worked as a Senior Fiber Optic Tech with the Southern Company. He was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Bonnie, sons, Luke Ard and Jude Ard all of Valdosta; his mother, Nina Dewitt of California, and a brother, Joey Ard of South Carolina. Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Harley Proctor Ard and a brother, Jimbo Ard.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. at Park Avenue United Methodist Church. Reverend Hale Bishop and Mr. Justin Crenshaw will officiate. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church. Condolences may be conveyed online at McLane Funeral and Cremation Services.
