Johnnie V. Stokes

Johnnie V. Stokes, 78, longtime resident of Valdosta, died early Tuesday afternoon November 8, 2005, after a short illness. Born in Valdosta on May 27, 1927, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Viola Edmondson Stokes.

After attending Valdosta City Schools and receiving her B.A. and Masters degrees from Valdosta State College, she taught in the Valdosta City School System for over 30 years. She was a member of First Christian Church of Valdosta. In later years she attended First Christian Church where she served as church pianist.

Survivors are David Coleman of Hahira, Nancy Herring of Valdosta, Paul Herring of Greenville, Ohio, Durward Arnold of Dasher and many other cousins.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2005, at 3 p.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Reverend Mickey Corbett and Reverend John Akers officiating.
