April 10, 1950 — September 30, 2018

Johnnie Franklin Hambrick went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 30, 2018, surrounded by loving friends and family. John made a valiant effort at overcoming Glioblastoma Multiforme during the past 10 months.
He was born to Johnnie Earl Hambrick and Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Stalvey Hambrick on April 10, 1950 at Smith Hospital in Hahira, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Annie Belle Futch Stalvey and Thomas Eason Stalvey, his paternal grandparents, Ruth McMillian Hambrick and John Tapley Hambrick. John graduated from Lowndes High School in 1968 and from Valdosta Technical College. John was an active member of Francis Lake Baptist Church. He served as a trustee and was involved in planning, building, and maintaining church facilities. Reverend Lyons often referred to John as a Pastor’s Pastor.
Married to Helen Powell Hambrick on May 28, 1971, John was a life-long resident of Lowndes County and a prominent local businessman who, along with his business partner, Lynwood Davis founded and managed Bathcraft, Inc., beginning in 1987. In addition, he continued the operation of Hambrick’s Christmas Tree Farm which had been in business in Northern Lowndes County since 1954.
John is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Helen Powell Hambrick, his brother Terry Marcus Hambrick and many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. The family extends deep and heartfelt appreciation to all of the wonderful care-givers, who have assisted in John’s care over these difficult and challenging months. Thank you for the blessings of Hospice for their respectful and considerate care in recent days. Profound gratitude goes to Keith, a very special nephew, that remained dedicated 24/7 through the entire process. He anticipated most needs before the need occurred. Keith remained by his side until the end.
